Put On Your Raincoat
Energetic Protection for Sign Language Interpreters - 0.5 GS CEUs
Enroll in Course
Interpreters are a channel, through which communication passes. This communication includes not only language, but emotion, energy, power dynamics, and intention.
Through practices of self-reflection, self-compassion, and mindfulness taught during this workshop, you will create a raincoat to protect yourself from the energetic effects of interpreting work. This can ensure that the message and all its invisible components pass through you unscathed to reach the intended recipient, and that they not stick to you and lead to burnout.
During this workshop participants will:
- Reflect on and describe the effects that emotion, energy, power dynamics & intention have on their interpreting process, their experience of compassion fatigue and on the consumers.
- Engage in and discuss practices of self-reflection, self-compassion and mindfulness.
- Incorporate self-reflection, self-compassion and mindfulness into their daily lives.
- Reflect on this daily practice to discover how it affects their life and interpreting work.
Upon registration, you will have access to the recorded 3-hour workshop where you'll be guided to create a 7-day 15-minute-daily mindfulness practice assignment. To receive CEUs, complete the 7-day practice and a one-page reflection paper to solidify your experience.
You are worth this love and care...I can't wait to support you on your journey!
